Tasha Koontz is a soprano and voice teacher in San Diego, CA. Upcoming engagements include a mainstage debut with San Diego Opera where she will sing the role of Annina in La Traviata by Verdi. Recently, Tasha was awarded 2nd Place in the Voice Division of the Music Merit Awards in San Diego, CA and 1st Place in the Coeur d'Alene Symphony Young Artist Competition. She received an Encouragement Award from the MONC Illinois District, and was also a semifinalist in the Brava! Opera Theater Competition in October.
Tasha’s recent operatic roles include Mimi in Puccini’s La Boheme and Violetta in Verdi's La Traviata both with Opera on the Avalon in St. John's, Newfoundland. Other operatic highlights include singing Alice Ford in Verdi's Falstaff at IU Opera Theater, Donna Anna in Mozart's Don Giovanni at Bay View Music Festival, and Countess in Mozart's Marriage of Figaro at Northwestern University.
Tasha received her M.M. Degree from Indiana University and her B.M. Degree from Northwestern University. Tasha is extremely grateful to have studied with her wonderful teachers including Theresa Brancaccio and Carol Vaness.
